Employer mentoring is available for those employers trying to navigate the challenges of hiring and retaining an apprentice. Cross-generational challenges, as well as challenges with younger generations and technology are some of the things we can assist with to best help you understand your apprentice or trainee before they walk off the job. Mentors meet with you as regularly as you like and offer guidance and advice on both best practice and challenges for specific challenges you may be facing.
For some industries, current completion rates are as low as 50 per cent. Mentoring programs aim to increase retention rates, lower staff turnover and keep apprentices and trainees on the job. Quite often young people who have just stepped into the workforce struggle with things we take for granted. These things can be as simple as travelling to work, managing their personal budgets or even the best way to approach workplace issues. Having a mentor as a sounding board is often all they need to ask the right questions and talk openly in a supportive environment.
